What is ISR?
ISR is the global leader in the industry it pioneered in 1966: survival swimming lessons for infants and young children. ISR Instructors provide the safest and most effective survival swimming lessons available. The ISR lessons students receive today is a product of nearly 60 years of research and experience to achieve unparalleled results each day in pools around the world. Today, ISR’s mission, “Not One More Child Drowns,” is the foundation of everything we do and is the driving force behind ISR’s employees, independent ISR Instructors, and major corporate partnerships. ISR believes the successful prevention of the leading cause of accidental death for children under the age of 4 in the U.S. will require a large group of caring and capable professionals whose sole focus is to save lives.
Rollback to Float

All students, even those as young as 6 months old, learn the fundamental ISR skill of rolling onto their backs to float, rest, and breathe. Infants and toddlers who are not yet walking well will learn to maintain this position until help can reach them, and the rollback to float skill is just as important for our older students as they incorporate more swimming skills.
Swim-Float-Swim

As toddlers and young children gain more physical skills on land, they are ready to learn more skills in the water as well. ISR teaches children to swim a short distance, rotate onto their back to a floating position, and then turn over to continue the sequence of swimming and floating until they can reach safety at the steps, side of the pool, or shoreline.
Maintaining Skills

Meet Kerri
I’ve been married to my husband, Christopher, for nearly 11 wonderful years. Together, we’re the proud parents of two incredible daughters, who bring so much joy, energy, and love into our lives.
Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) is more than just swim instruction—it’s an incredibly effective drowning prevention program, and I’m honored to be part of a team dedicated to keeping babies and young children safe in and around the water. Our mission is to teach children to become aquatic problem-solvers, equipping them with life-saving ISR Self-Rescue® skills while nurturing their confidence and love for the water.
As parents, there’s nothing more important than the safety of our children. That responsibility drives my passion and commitment to each family I work with. I can’t wait to meet your little ones and guide them through this empowering journey—helping them grow not only as swimmers, but as self-rescuers.
My own journey with ISR began after the birth of my first daughter in 2015. Like many new parents, I signed up for the typical “Mommy and Me” swim classes. While they were fun, I left each one feeling uncertain about whether my child would truly know what to do in a water emergency. I needed something more.
After researching online, I came across ISR and was immediately intrigued. At the time, there were no instructors in the Monterey area. It wasn’t until we spent a year in Washington, D.C. in 2019 that I finally had the opportunity to enroll my daughters in the program.
From the very first day of lessons, I was hooked. In just six weeks, my daughters, then 3 and 2 years old, transformed into confident, capable swimmers with the ability to think and react in the water. Watching my 2-year-old swim laps with ease and joy lit a fire in me. I knew right then that I wanted to bring ISR to families on the Monterey Peninsula.
I completed the intensive ISR instructor training, and without a doubt, it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I’m incredibly proud to now offer this life-saving instruction in our community, and I’m truly excited to welcome your family into the ISR Monterey Bay family.
